1. Our Privacy Obligations
Midman takes privacy seriously and is committed to protecting the information of its users.
This Privacy Policy explains how Midman collects, uses, stores, and discloses information when you access or use the Midman platform, website, smart contracts, and related services.
For the purposes of this policy, "personal information" means information that identifies or could reasonably identify an individual. Not all information processed by Midman is personal information. Certain data, particularly blockchain data and user-generated transaction content, may not identify an individual directly.
This policy applies globally and is intended to comply with applicable data protection laws, including the General Data Protection Regulation for users located in the European Union.
We review this Privacy Policy regularly and may update it from time to time.
2. Types of Information We Collect
Information You Specifically Give Us
When you use Midman, you may voluntarily provide certain information, including wallet addresses, optional email addresses, usernames or display names, transaction descriptions, dispute messages and evidence, and any other information you choose to provide.
Information We Collect Automatically
When you access or use Midman, our servers may automatically collect limited information, including IP address for security and fraud prevention and basic browser and device information for debugging and platform compatibility.
We minimize tracking and do not use third party analytics services that sell or share user data. We do not build marketing profiles or track users across other websites.
Information We Do Not Collect
Midman does not collect private keys, recovery phrases, government identification, bank account details, credit card information, or biometric data.
3. How We Collect Information
Information is collected directly from you when you use the platform, automatically through cookies and similar technologies, from public blockchains, and from other users when they initiate transactions involving your wallet address.
4. How We Use Your Information
We use information to provide escrow services, facilitate smart contract transactions, resolve disputes, send notifications if email is provided, improve platform performance, prevent fraud, comply with legal obligations, and protect users and the platform.
5. Blockchain Data Disclosure
Midman operates using public blockchains. Transactions conducted through Midman smart contracts are publicly visible, permanent, and independently verifiable. Wallet addresses, transaction values, timestamps, and contract interactions may be viewed by anyone through public blockchain explorers.
Midman does not control blockchain networks or the data recorded on them and cannot modify, delete, or obscure blockchain records.
6. When We Disclose Information
Information may be disclosed to transaction counterparties to facilitate escrow transactions, to trusted service providers who assist in operating the platform, or to authorities if required by law. Information may also be disclosed with your consent.
7. Links to Other Sites
The Midman platform may contain links to third party websites or services. These sites are not operated or controlled by Midman, and we are not responsible for their content, security, or privacy practices. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third party services you access.
8. Data Security
Midman uses industry standard technical and organizational security measures to protect information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or alteration. However, no system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
You are solely responsible for maintaining the security of your wallet, devices, and private keys.
Midman will never ask for your private keys or recovery phrases.
Midman uses smart contracts to hold escrow funds. Midman does not have direct access to user funds. Only the proper transaction signatures can release funds according to the smart contract logic.
9. Data Retention
Midman retains information only for as long as necessary to provide its services, resolve disputes, comply with legal obligations, and protect users and the platform.
Certain records, such as transaction histories and dispute communications, may be retained for extended periods where required for legal, regulatory, or security purposes.
Blockchain data cannot be deleted or altered due to the permanent nature of distributed ledger technology.
10. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, request corrections to inaccurate or incomplete information, request deletion of certain personal information, and request a copy of your data in a portable format.
Some information cannot be deleted or modified, including public blockchain data, records required to meet legal obligations, and transaction or dispute records necessary to protect the integrity of the platform.
11. Children
Midman is not intended for use by individuals under the age of 18.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that personal information has been collected from a minor, we will take reasonable steps to delete such information where possible.
Parents or guardians who believe that a minor has provided personal information to Midman may contact us to request review and removal.
